The Aquila Studio
We teach the integral elements of script analysis, and how to apply them to the text at hand to truly experience the role through imagination. Informed by the Adler technique, “Not only do we have to know the circumstances of the period, the literary aspects but also what’s hidden underneath;” to find the recognizable truth beneath the written words of a role, to their meaning. Add imagination to this recipe, “active imagination, not passive, taking your character by the hand and walking with them as if they are right beside you…” and you have the beginnings of craft. This is a process that will serve you in your life and in your work as artists, for the rest of your life.
These tools, this process - when inculcated with clear and positive reinforcement of passionate artists at work - is the basis of The Aquila Studio...where imagination comes to life. Because it is certainly not about tricks or shortcuts.
It’s about CRAFT.

Turbine Arts Collective is a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization that supports the exploration of creativity through workshops, performances and artist gatherings. We hold our long-running (since 2012) Improvisational Theatre Workshops at the Zephyr, where we teach an approach that relies on your awareness, reactions and impulses, in a safe, supportive space. Our lead instructors, Rob Watzke & Josh Willis, have been teaching for 30+ years. We welcome experienced actors and non-actors alike, and we usually hold a free introductory workshop on the last Monday of the month. Contact us at workshops@turbine-arts.org for more information.
